The train arrived in Newport News from the Pentagon via Conrail to the FR&P main line, the RF&P to Acca Yard in Richmond, over the Seaboard to Brown Street Yard in Richmond, then via Chessie to Lee Hall Station, and finally US Army to Feay Plaza, Ft. Eustis.
