Eagle from the 1947 Freedom Train

One of the large eagles from the side of the 1947 Freedom Train still exists and is in the collection of a railcar service facility in Mobile, AL.

The company is located on the grounds of a former GM&O locomotive service facility, making it almost certain the eagle is from the side of the PA-1 locomotive (the GM&O acquired the locomotive after its Freedom Train run).

The eagle was not always in their collection. A few years ago someone presented the company with the eagle at a ceremony celebrating the restoration of a local diesel locomotive. There is no record who the generous owner was, but likely a former GM&O employee.

The eagle was 'found' and brought to our attention by Jason Parham of the GM&O Historical Society.
