The official American Freedom Train medal was designed by sculptor Marcel Jovine of Turin, Italy. The medal was offered for sale in gold, silver and bronze.

This 1 inch (32mm) diameter 1oz. 18K gold medal was produced by the Medallic Art Company. The same company also made 1.5" and 2.5" versions in bronze and fine silver.

Like the large fine silver medal, this version came in a blue velvet box.
