Live
Steam American Freedom Train #3339
Slightly smaller than
4449, Joe Cihura built 3339 in 1976 and put it in AFT colors.
Hardly a collectible,
it is a one-of-a-kind 'live steam' operating model, fired by propane.
It stands a little under 3 feet tall and weighs a few hundred pounds.
It has a 2-6-2 wheel arrangement.
Apparently the locomotive
was in service at a small amusement park in Reno, NV for many years.
The steamer is now located
at the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City. Its gauge is
9-3/4 inches, according to Wendell Huffman of the museum.
If you have more information
on this model, or have photos of it in operation, please email.
Photographed on a outing
during the American Freedom Train Crew Reunion held in Lake Tahoe
over Labor Day Weekend 2006. It was an unexpected highlight of the
museum backshop tour.
