American Freedom Train Reunion 2005

To make up for the 2004 reunion ruined by Hurricane Ivan, a New Orleans gathering was planned for this odd-numbered year.

Everyone was counting on Gail Vasterling Stracke to make New Orleans as memorable as she had in 1978 and 1984.

No one was counting on Hurricane Katrina.

In the ensuing months, Dale Chesnutt stepped forward to volunteer to host a reunion in Lake Tahoe in 2006.

That would make four years between reunions.
