American Freedom Train
GS-4 Book

America's Bicentennial Queen: Engine 4449 "The Lone Survivor" by Richard K. Wright is a 52 page book covering the history and restoration of former Southern Pacific GS-4 #4449 to pull the American Freedom Train.

The first half of this heavily illustrated book tells the story of the Daylight locomotives on the Southern Pacific Railroad in the 1930's - 1950's.

The second half covers the restoration of #4449 at a roundhouse in Portland, OR in preparation for its trip to Chicago to meet the AFT.
